The Index Tankan is considered to be the most important economic indicator in Japan. It is calculated by the Japan CB and includes a lot of others important indicators. Calculation is made on the basis of survey of nine thousand country’s companies and corporations. The survey takes into account all possible factors that influence economic estimation of business successfulness. Within Tankan Index we may single out some part-index in manufacturing sector which is a specially calculated indicator for companies dealing with industrial sector (service sector is not taken into account).
The Index is quarterly published. The publication of this index exerts a very significant influence on the Japanese currency’s rate, because the yen’s reaction to it is immense.
