Index that reflects any value changes in imported goods and services. Since in calculations of Consumer Price Index (CPI) the price of imported goods and services is also included, the current indicator characterizes all import prices holdings in general statistics of various retail price changes in market basket of goods and services. Import price information is often used for studying the market pressure, which exists because of alteration in foreign currency. Imported price will be chiefly decreasing while the national currency is rather constant and powerful. Economists usually pay attention to import prices without taking into consideration energy resources prices, because this component distinguishes by a high volatility.
